Republicans Killed Bill That Reduces Tolls

Loudoun County representative Charles Yudd testifying in support of HB 1881.

RICHMOND, Va.: Today, the Commerce and Labor Subcommittee #2 killed HB 1881, a bill that would encourage distance-based pricing on the Dulles Greenway.

“The burden of tolls on Loudoun families keeps increasing – we have to find ways to make sure that workers can get to and from work without being hamstrung by $30 a day in tolls,” said Delegate John J. Bell (D – Loudoun), the patron of the bill. “While my bill was killed today, I will continue to seek out ways to make sure Loudoun and Prince William counties are a great place to live, work, and play – and that includes lowering tolls.”

HB 1881 aimed to change the SCC regulations to encourage the Dulles Greenway to implement distance-based pricing, based on the fact that the tolling discourages use of the road.
