Delegate John Bell Aims to Keep Elections Sacred

CHANTILLY, Va.: Delegate John J. Bell (D – Loudoun) introduced two bills that help improve election integrity in Virginia.

HB 268 improves the absentee voter system by requiring all ballots, including overseas and military ballots, include tracking information for their receipt so voters know their ballot is going to be counted.

HJ 35 proposes a constitutional amendment to create a nonpartisan redistricting system that follows the shortest splitline method, found here.

“Elections should be fair and transparent, and it’s very important to me that every voter knows his or her vote is counted fairly and honestly,” said Delegate John J. Bell. “These two bills help make sure that our elections are straightforward and just, and that voters can choose their representation. Every vote matters.”
