CHANTILLY, Va.: Americans for Responsible Solutions, an organization founded by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and retired Navy veteran and astronaut Captain Mark Kelly, have announced their endorsement of Del. John J. Bell’s (D – Loudoun) campaign for reelection in the 87th District of the Virginia House of Delegates.
“As a veteran who has carried a firearm in combat zones, I know how dangerous guns can be. They are not toys; they are weapons intended to cause severe harm or death,” said Delegate John J. Bell. “I work every day in the General Assembly to promote firearm safety in Virginia, and opposing legislation that would make it easier for bad actors to cause irreparable harm to our community and country. I’m incredibly honored to have earned this endorsement, and will continue fighting for what’s right for our Commonwealth.”
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords said: “Every year, over 33,000 Americans are killed by a gun. Virginia has not been immune to this deadly crisis: somebody is killed with a gun in Virginia every 10 hours. The next Virginia General Assembly will have a real opportunity to make Virginia’s communities safer by closing the loopholes in the state’s background check laws, cracking down on gun trafficking and making it harder for domestic abusers to access firearms. Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC is proud to endorse these gun safety champions and look forward to them being a steady voice for responsibility in the Virginia House of Delegates.”
Delegate John J. Bell is a 26-year Air Force veteran serving his first term in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 87th District in Loudoun and Prince William Counties.
